Why we use them

Affiliate commissions fund the research, writing, and upkeep of this site, which is what lets us publish the whole catalogue rather than only the products somebody wants promoted. Commission never changes a score: every rating is computed from the specification the maker publishes, and the working is shown on the product page. If we ever run anything paid, it will be labelled as such and it will sit outside the ranking.
