Privacy policy

This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. We keep data collection to a minimum and we don't sell your personal information.

What we collect

• When you submit a review: the display name, email address, rating, and review text you provide. Your email is never shown publicly. It's used to verify submissions and, only if you opt in, to send occasional updates.
• In your browser: your theme choice, compare list, and saved favorites are stored locally on your device (localStorage). They never leave your browser and aren't tied to your identity. So is your cookie choice, if you have made one.
• Visit statistics: we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, see which pages are read and which links are followed, so we know what to write next. It sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*) holding a random identifier, and Google receives your IP address to work out an approximate location; GA4 does not store full IP addresses. Advertising, remarketing and personalisation signals are switched off. Visitors in the UK, the EU, the EEA and Switzerland are asked first, and no analytics cookie is set unless they accept; declining still sends Google a cookieless page count. You can change your choice any time from Cookie settings in the footer. There are no advertising pixels on this site.
• Affiliate links: many product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, you pass through a link service (Geniuslink, or the Awin or Impact affiliate networks) on the way to the retailer, and that service and the retailer may set or read cookies in your browser to record that the visit came from us, so that we can be paid a commission if you buy. This happens on their sites, not ours, and under their own privacy policies. The Coffee Guru is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program that lets sites earn fees by linking to Amazon.com; Amazon and other retailers may collect information directly from visitors who follow those links and may place or recognise cookies on their browsers. It costs you nothing, and it never changes a score or a verdict.

How we use it

• To display approved reviews and community ratings.
• To send marketing or product updates only if you checked the opt-in box. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To prevent spam and abuse.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run the site: Vercel, which hosts it and, like any web host, receives your IP address when you load a page; Supabase, the database provider that stores submitted reviews; and Google, for the visit statistics described above. They process data on our behalf and aren't permitted to use it for their own purposes. The affiliate services above act under their own policies when you follow a link to them. We do not sell your data.

Your choices

You can ask us to access or delete the personal data we hold about you, or unsubscribe from emails, at any time. Just contact us. You can clear locally stored data by clearing your browser storage for this site.

We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest version.
