The Eureka Mignon Silenzio is a 55 mm flat-burr electric grinder from the Italian maker Eureka, built for espresso at home and sold in a long list of colors. Its headline feature is Eureka's Silent Technology, an anti-vibration system the maker says cuts grinding noise by about 20 dB against conventional grinders. This page covers the published specs, how it compares with two other grinders on this site, and who it suits.
What is the Eureka Mignon Silenzio?
It sits in the Mignon range of what Eureka calls prosumer grinders, meaning grinders aimed at home users who want café-style hardware. Eureka's own tagline for it is "The silent fellow." The current version carries the name Mignon Silenzio 55, and the 55 refers to its burr diameter in millimeters. Eureka states it recommends the grinder for all purposes, and its datasheet lists Turkish, espresso, moka, drip and French press as suggested uses.
The grinder is hopper-fed. It holds 300 g of beans in the standard hopper, grinds through a fork that holds a portafilter hands-free, and has a touch display for timed grinding. Eureka sells a single dose hopper as an optional accessory, but the standard setup is not a single-dose grinder.

How does the Eureka Mignon Silenzio grind and adjust?
Eureka says the 55 mm burrs, paired with a powerful motor, give high productivity. The published rate is 1.8 to 2.5 g/s for espresso and 2.5 to 3.5 g/s for brew, so a typical 18 g espresso dose is a matter of seconds by the maker's own numbers.
Grind size is set with Eureka's patented Stepless Micrometric Regulation System. Eureka describes it as moving the lower burr, which gives infinite adjustment points and lets you clean the grinder without losing your setting. Its datasheet says the burr holder can be taken apart by removing nine screws for cleaning or burr replacement.
The ACE system, short for Anti-Clump and Electrostaticity, is there to reduce clumping and control how the grounds exit. Eureka does not publish test figures for how well it works, so treat it as a design intent.
For dosing, Eureka lists manual and timer activation on a touch display, with a retractable timer button so the settings do not change mid-grind, and a Start and Stop timer mode. The Silenzio page does not mention preset doses, which the Specialità page does.
Eureka Mignon Silenzio vs Eureka Mignon Specialità
The closest rival is its own sibling. The Eureka Mignon Specialita shares the 55 mm flat hardened steel burrs, the 310 W motor at 1350 rpm, the 300 g hopper, the stepless regulation and the same published grind rates and dimensions. The difference Eureka states is on the control side. The Specialità page lists two programmable doses, a plus and minus grind time adjustment and an Extra Dose function on its touch display, while the Silenzio page lists manual and timer activation with Start and Stop mode.
If you grind the same dose every morning, the programmable doses of the Specialità are the clearer fit. If you are happy to time it yourself, the specs published for the two grinders are otherwise matched, so price and color options can decide it.
Eureka Mignon Silenzio vs Niche Zero
The Niche Zero is a different kind of grinder. It uses 63 mm conical burrs, is made to single dose, and Niche publishes zero retention and a noise level of 72 dB while grinding. It comes only in black or white. The Silenzio uses 55 mm flat burrs, takes a 300 g hopper of beans, and grinds faster on paper at 1.8 to 2.5 g/s for espresso against about 1 g/s for the Niche.
Pick the Niche if you change beans often and want nothing left in the grinder. Pick the Silenzio if you grind from a hopper and want the larger flat burrs and the fork for hands-free dosing. Flat and conical burrs are often said to taste different, but nobody here has tested these two side by side.
Is the Eureka Mignon Silenzio worth it?
Eureka does not list a US price on its own site, and prices at US retailers change with the finish, with chrome and special colors costing more, so check a current listing before deciding. On specs alone, 55 mm hardened steel flat burrs, stepless adjustment, a 300 g hopper and a touch display are what you would expect in a serious home espresso grinder, with the Silent Technology noise reduction as the extra on top. You can compare it with the rest of the grinders in our guide before you buy.
Value depends on what you drink. For espresso every day, a stepless grinder with a hands-free fork is a sound purchase on paper. For occasional use, a smaller grinder will do.
Who should buy the Eureka Mignon Silenzio (and who should not)
It suits someone making espresso daily who shares a kitchen or lives with people who sleep late, and who wants a grinder that stays quiet. It also suits anyone who wants a Mignon with a long color list and stepless adjustment. The size is modest at 120 mm wide, so it fits most counters, though at 350 mm tall it needs head room under cabinets once the hopper is on.
It is a poor match if you single dose several different beans a week, since it is hopper-fed and Eureka publishes no retention figure. It is also not the grinder to buy if you want built-in presets for repeat doses, in which case look at the Specialità. And Eureka does not say how loud it is in decibels, so the 20 dB claim is a comparison with conventional grinders, not a measured level.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Eureka Mignon Silenzio good for espresso?
