What is the Breville Spiral Luxe?
A pour-over that does the pouring, with the grinder built in.
Breville released the Spiral Luxe Auto Pour-Over on 29 September 2026. It puts four things into one machine 6.7 inches wide: a burr grinder, a conical pour-over dripper, a heater that does the job of a gooseneck kettle, and the timing a scale and a stopwatch would give you. Press one button and the dripper slides under the grinder, takes a measured dose of freshly ground coffee, glides back under the spout, and the spout pours the water over it in a spiral. Breville files it under a new Pour Over Coffee Makers section of its own shop.
It brews straight into a mug for one cup, with the drip tray removed for a taller mug, or into the included 20 oz glass carafe for a few. It sits with the filter machines in our drip coffee makers, where its real rivals are, and we explain that choice below.
The spiral pour
The one thing most automatic brewers do not try to copy.
In manual pour-over, how the water lands matters as much as how much of it there is. A barista pours slowly from a gooseneck kettle in circles, wetting every part of the coffee bed evenly, then pauses and pours again. Most filter machines drop water from a fixed showerhead instead. The Spiral Luxe's articulating spout moves to copy the barista's circles, and Breville says it gives a smooth, laminar flow that saturates the grounds evenly. Even saturation is what avoids the bitter and sour mix you get when some grounds are over extracted and others barely touched. Our guide to pour-over by hand shows the technique it is copying.
The grinder
40mm flat burrs, and three ways to use them.
The built-in grinder uses 40mm flat burrs fed from a 7 oz bean hopper, and grinds straight into the dripper. Breville gives three grinder modes: Auto, which doses for the strength and size you choose; Single Dose, for weighing in only the beans you want to use; and bypass, so you can brew pre-ground coffee. Single Dose matters if you switch between coffees, because beans left in a hopper go stale and the next bag mixes with the last. Breville does not publish how many grind settings there are. A built-in grinder is the biggest single difference from the Fellow Aiden and the Ratio Eight, which both need a separate grinder, and our grind size guide explains why fresh grinding is the biggest step up in a cup.
Control: one touch, or every setting
Simple by default, and a full recipe editor when you want one.
Day to day you choose a strength, Strong, Medium or Mild, and a size, and the machine works out the rest. Advanced Mode opens up the brew ratio from 1:10 to 1:20, the water temperature, and the number of pours and the pauses between them, which is how you would set a bloom. Recipes can be named and saved, there is a Delayed Auto Start for mornings, and it is all set on a 2.4 inch colour touchscreen. Water is heated by Breville's ThermoJet system with PID control, which Breville says reaches brewing temperature in seconds and holds it steady. Our coffee to water ratio guide explains what each ratio does to the cup.

Spiral Luxe vs Fellow Aiden vs Ratio Eight
Three premium brewers, and only one of them grinds.
The Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker costs $399.95, is SCA certified, has an app and a thermal carafe, and brews from one cup to ten. It has no grinder. The Ratio Eight Series 2 costs $699, brews up to 40 oz into a hand-blown glass carafe, is built of walnut, glass and steel and carries a five year warranty; it has no grinder either and only two programmes. The Spiral Luxe sits between them on price, and it is the only one of the three that grinds, doses and pours from whole beans.
The trade is capacity. Its 20 oz carafe is about four 5 oz cups, where the Aiden makes ten and the Ratio eight. Buy it for one or two people who want each cup fresh; buy the Aiden or the Ratio to brew a pot. If you already own a good grinder, the Aiden gives you more brewer for less money. Breville's own Precision Brewer is the batch brewer in its range, without a grinder.
Why we list it with drip coffee makers
It brews pour-over style, and it is still a drip machine.
Any pour-over is a drip brew: water runs through ground coffee in a paper filter by gravity. What makes the Spiral Luxe a pour-over is how the water goes on, slowly and in a spiral. On this site the pour-over category is manual drippers and cones, compared on what a dripper can be judged by, while the machines it competes with are filter machines. So it is scored and compared with them.
Is it worth it?
For one or two people who want fresh-ground pour-over without the routine, yes.
$599.95 buys a grinder, a pour-over kettle routine and a timer in one footprint, with real control when you want it. The $399.95 Fellow Aiden plus a burr grinder of around $200 comes to the same money, in two machines. What it does not do is brew for a crowd, and it was out of stock on Breville's site in its first week, so expect a wait.
Who should buy it (and who should not)
Buy it if
- You want pour-over from whole beans every morning, from one touch.
- You brew one to four cups at a time.
- You want to tune ratio, temperature and pours once you know what you like.
Skip it if
- You brew a full pot for a household; take the Fellow Aiden.
- You already own a grinder you like.
- You enjoy the ritual of pouring by hand; a cone and a kettle cost a fraction.
