What is Nescafe 3 in 1 Strong?

The same sachet with the ratio shifted toward the coffee.

Nescafe publishes 28 single packets and manufacture in Germany. It is the strong variant of the 3 in 1 format, which means more coffee relative to the milk and sugar than the Classic version.

What 3 in 1 means, and why it is a different product

Coffee, whitener and sugar in one sachet, pre-dosed, made with water alone.

A 3 in 1 is not instant coffee that happens to come with extras. It is a complete drink powder in which coffee is one of three ingredients and usually not the largest by weight. Add hot water and you have a white, sweet cup; there is nothing to add and nothing to decide.

That is why Amazon files these under Coffee Substitutes rather than coffee, and why comparing one to a jar of freeze-dried misses the point of both. A freeze-dried jar is coffee you make into a drink. This is the drink.

The format exists because of where it is drunk: offices, building sites, trains, hotel rooms, anywhere with a kettle and nothing else. In much of Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe it is the default way coffee is consumed at home, not a compromise.

Our scoring reflects the trade honestly. Sachets rank highest on packaging, because each dose is sealed until use. The whitener and sugar are recorded as additives, and no process, origin or certification is published for any of these, so they score below the specialty jars on everything the site can measure.

What "strong" means here, and what it does not

It is a ratio change, not a different coffee.

In a jar of instant, strength is yours to set: use more powder. In a 3 in 1 the dose is fixed, so the only way to make it stronger is for the manufacturer to change the proportions inside the sachet.

That means "strong" here describes the balance of the drink rather than the coffee itself. It is not a darker roast, a different bean or a different process. If the Classic tastes too milky to you, this is the fix; if you want coffee that tastes of more, it is not.

Made in Germany, which is worth a line

3 in 1 sachets are usually manufactured wherever they are sold.

Nescafe publishes Germany as the country of manufacture, which is unusual for this format and one of very few origin facts stated on any of the three Nescafe sachets we hold. Our sourcing criterion has almost nothing else to read on these products.

It says nothing about where the coffee was grown, which none of these publish.

Is it worth it?

Worth it over the Classic if you find that one too milky.

Same price bracket, same convenience, 28 cups. The choice between the two is simply how you like the drink.

This listing publishes even less than the Classic does: no roast, no ingredient breakdown, no servings weight. Package dimensions and country of origin are most of what is there.

Who should buy it (and who should not)

Buy it if you drink 3 in 1 and want more coffee in the cup.

It suits the same buyer as the Classic: a workplace, a kettle and no fridge. 28 sachets is a month for one person.

Do not buy it expecting stronger coffee in the sense of a darker roast. And as with all 3 in 1, there is no way to take the sugar out.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Strong different from Classic?

More coffee relative to the milk and sugar in the same sachet. It is a ratio change rather than a different coffee.

Where is it made?

Germany, which Nescafe publishes. That is about where it was manufactured, not where the coffee was grown.

How many sachets in a pack?

28.

Can I make it less sweet?

No. The sugar is in the sachet and the dose is fixed.
