What is the AeroPress Go Plus?
An AeroPress and an insulated travel mug in one kit.
The AeroPress brews by steeping coffee in hot water for a minute or two, then pushing it through a paper filter with a plunger. The Go Plus takes that brewer and builds a travel kit around it. The press itself is crystal-clear Tritan, and it packs, with its scoop, stirrer and filters, into a 16 oz double-wall, vacuum-insulated stainless steel tumbler. You take the kit apart, brew into the tumbler, drink from it, then rinse the press and pack it back in.
Of the AeroPress range we review, it is the only one that comes with its own insulated mug. It is sold in black, cream and pink.

The brewing
Exactly the AeroPress method, which is the point.
Nothing about the brewing changes. AeroPress describes three parts to it: fast immersion, which limits bitterness, air pressure for body, and micro-filtration through paper so there is no grit. That is why an AeroPress cup tastes clean like a pour over but fuller, and why it suits so many styles, from a standard cup to a short, espresso-style concentrate to cold brew. The press holds 10 oz, enough for one large cup or two small ones, and it takes the standard AeroPress filters. AeroPress says it brews and cleans in two minutes. Our guide to how to use an AeroPress covers the standard and inverted methods.
The tumbler
The part you are paying for.
The tumbler is what separates the Go Plus from every other AeroPress. It is double-wall, vacuum-insulated 18/8 stainless steel, so a coffee brewed at a campsite or in a hotel room stays hot while you drink it. Its lid is magnetic and splash-resistant and fits a car cup holder, and a built-in holder keeps up to 25 paper filters dry and in one place, which solves the usual problem of a travel brewer whose filters are always somewhere else. Fully packed, the kit weighs 0.56 kg.
Cleaning and care
Rinse the press, wipe the tumbler, pack it away.
AeroPress lists the Go Plus as dishwasher safe and BPA free, and the press is shatterproof Tritan, so a drop on a campsite floor is not the end of it. AeroPress says a brew and the clean-up take two minutes together. If you would rather not carry paper at all, AeroPress sells a stainless steel filter separately; the tumbler's holder can still keep a stack of paper ones as a spare. The magnetic lid is the part to rinse after every coffee, since it is the part that touches your mouth.
AeroPress Go Plus vs AeroPress Go
The same idea, with a better mug.
The AeroPress Go Travel is $49.95. It is also a travel kit that packs into its own case, but the case is plastic, not insulated steel, and the press holds 237 ml against the Go Plus's 10 oz. Our record gives the Go 323 g, so it is the lighter kit to carry. The Go Plus costs $40 more for a clear Tritan press, a larger brew and an insulated steel tumbler with filter storage. If you mainly want something light for a backpack, the Go is enough. If you will drink from it in a car or outdoors in the cold, the insulated tumbler earns the price.
AeroPress Go Plus vs AeroPress Original
For home, the Original is still the one.
The AeroPress Original is $39.95 and brews the same 296 ml as the Go Plus, in polypropylene. It has no mug and no case, and for brewing at home it needs neither. Buy the Original for the kitchen and the Go Plus for travel; buying the Go Plus only to use at home pays for a tumbler you will not need.
Is the AeroPress Go Plus worth it?
For travel and commuting, yes.
At $89.95 it is more than twice the price of the Original, and the coffee is the same. What you buy is a complete kit that brews, keeps the coffee hot and carries its own filters, in a size that fits a cup holder. For anyone who makes coffee away from a kitchen, at work, in a car or on a trip, that is a real improvement on carrying a press, a mug and a bag of filters separately. Every model is compared on our immersion brewer page.
Who should buy it (and who should not)
Buy it if
- You make coffee while travelling, camping or at work.
- You want your coffee to stay hot after brewing.
- You want one kit that carries its own filters.
Skip it if
- You only brew at home; the Original costs less than half as much.
- Weight matters most; the Go is lighter.
- You brew for more than two people.
