What is the Miele CM 6360?
Miele's countertop machine for a household that drinks milk coffee.
Miele is best known for dishwashers and washing machines, and its coffee machines are built the same way: conservative, well documented and designed to be cleaned. The CM 6360 MilkPerfection sits in the middle of its countertop range. It grinds beans with a conical steel grinder, brews through a 15 bar pump and a single stainless-steel thermoblock, and draws milk from a glass flask through a pipe to make cappuccinos, flat whites and lattes at the touch of a button.
Three features set it apart from most machines at the price: a brew unit you can take out and rinse, OneTouch for Two, which makes two drinks at once, and eight user profiles so each person in the house keeps their own settings. Miele sells it in Obsidian Black and Lotus White.

The drinks
Fourteen coffee and milk drinks, and most come in doubles.
Miele's data sheet lists ristretto, espresso, coffee, long coffee, espresso macchiato, cappuccino, cappuccino italiano, flat white, latte macchiato, caffe latte, cafe au lait, hot milk, milk froth and a coffee pot, with single and double versions of most. Add hot water and six tea settings, from black tea to Japanese tea, each dispensed at its own temperature. Portions run from 20 to 300 ml.
For each drink you can change the amount of coffee (6 to 14 g a cup), the brewing temperature and pre-brewing, which wets the grounds before the main extraction. Miele's manual explains when to change each: more coffee if a drink lacks body, a lower temperature if it tastes bitter. There is also a DoubleShot option for a stronger cup without a smaller portion.
Two at once, and eight people
Built for a household, not one person.
OneTouch for Two makes two drinks side by side, including milk drinks; Jura's compact ENA 8, by comparison, does two at once for black coffee only. The eight user profiles let each person save their own versions of every drink, and the Miele app over Wi-Fi lets you set up drinks and start the machine from your phone with MobileStart. If two people want a flat white at 7am, this is the feature that saves the second wait.
Cleaning: the reason to pay more
A brew unit that lifts out, and milk parts that go in the dishwasher.
The single most useful thing a bean-to-cup machine can have is a removable brew unit. You take it out once a week and rinse it under the tap, which keeps coffee oils and old grounds from building up where you cannot see them. Many automatic machines, including Jura's, list no removable brew unit and rely on cleaning tablets instead. Miele's manual also asks you to clean the area underneath the brew unit weekly, because damp grounds collect there.
The milk flask, milk pipework and siphon can all go in the dishwasher at up to 55 C (130 F). The machine rinses the milk pipework automatically from the water tank, and prompts you when it is time to clean the milk pipework, degrease the brew unit or descale. Miele supplies the cleaning tablets and sticks. Our guide to bean-to-cup milk systems compares how much work each kind of milk system asks of you.
What it does not do as well
Five grind steps and a modest hopper.
The grinder has five settings. That is enough to move between a dark and a light roast, but it is fewer than the 12 or 13 steps Philips and De'Longhi offer, so there is less room to fine-tune. The bean hopper holds about 300 g, enough for a few days in a busy house, and the grounds container takes 10 portions. There is also a small inconsistency in Miele's own paperwork: the manual gives the milk flask as 0.5 litres and the data sheet as 0.7. We print both rather than pick one.
Miele CM 6360 vs Jura J8
Two premium machines with different priorities.
The Jura J8 costs $2,599 at Jura's US shop and makes 31 drinks, including Sweet Foam, with a 1.9 litre tank and a 4.3 inch touchscreen. It has more drinks and more grinder adjustment, seven steps. The Miele costs $400 more at list price but brings eight user profiles, two milk drinks at once and a brew unit you can rinse. Choose the Jura for the widest drinks menu; choose the Miele for a busy household that wants easier cleaning.
Miele CM 6360 vs Philips 4300 LatteGo
Our top-rated bean-to-cup machine costs a third as much.
The Philips 4300 LatteGo is $999, scores highest in our bean-to-cup rankings, and also has a removable brew group and a 1.8 litre tank, with 12 grind settings and a two-part LatteGo milk system that Philips says cleans in under ten seconds. It makes six drinks, one at a time. If you want espresso, coffee and a good cappuccino with easy cleaning, the Philips does that for $2,000 less. The Miele earns its price only if you will use the profiles, the second spout and the wider menu every day.
Is the Miele CM 6360 worth it?
For a household of milk-coffee drinkers who value easy cleaning, yes.
It is not the cheapest way to get a cappuccino at home, and the grinder is less adjustable than cheaper machines. What you pay for is a machine designed around a family's morning: two drinks at once, a profile for everyone, and cleaning that does not depend on tablets alone. When we checked on 9 October, Miele's US store was showing $400 off in the cart, which brings it close to the J8. Our list of the best bean-to-cup machines under $1,500 covers cheaper options, and the bean-to-cup machines category ranks them all.
